gameplay tips

Beware of friendly gadgets

Kapkans traps will do damage to everything within a certain radius. Be careful not to place it close to barbwire, frost traps and so such. Make sure to inform your team if they put something next to your traps.

Listen and react quickly

Since the you have 5 traps you are able to cover a large area with traps. If you are close by they can work as a early warning system, giving intel on Attackers entering the building or room. Use the explosion to your advantage and quickly strike the already hurt attacker.

Find the best angle

Try to place the EDD in blind angles, places hidden by debris and generally camouflage them as much as possible. You do not want the attacker to spot the trap before its to late.

castle badge  Castle

With Castle barricaded doors or windows and Kapkan trapping, a defending team can cover a major part of the Attackers possible entry points. Even if it works with all the other Trap Operators, Kapkan can also easily identify an Attacker entry point with the sound of the explosion of his trap.

lesion badge  Lesion

With Kapkan and Lesion, a defensive team can do massive damage to the Attackers without ever fighting them, leaving them with very low health before even entering in the stronghold. They can take advantage of the sound of the traps to mask movement or to peek when they least expect it.

montagne badge  Montagne

Shields, especially Montagne, take reduced damage from explosions. While fully extended, Montagne can walk into a Kapkan's trap with minimal damage taken. To take him down, it is better to fight him with a crossfire.

iq badge  IQ

IQ is able to see Kapkan's EED from afar. She can either bypass them completely or destroy them before they can cause any damage. However, when a trap has been detroyed, it is still a good clue for Kapkan to identify the angle of attack of his opponents.

twitch badge  Twitch

Thanks to her drone, Twitch can easily see and destroy Kapkan's EDD, especialy during the Preparation Phase. To avoid having his traps destroyed before the begining of the Action Phase, Kapkan can place them at the very end of the Preparation, increasing his chances of surprising the Attackers.

thatcher badge  Thatcher

With his EMP grenade, Thatcher can destroy Kapkan's EDD from afar.

frost badge  Frost

With traps that guarantee a Down But Not Out state but also easier to spot, Frost can be a great alternative. Frost's traps are best placed below windows or on the top of stairs where they will be easy to miss for any Attacker checking angles as he pushes.

lesion badge  Lesion

Lesion's Gu mines are almost invisible but give less damage and have a cooldown before being able to throw another trap. Gu Mines will give more info, slow down the Attackers when triggered and leave a damage over time effect on the Attackers until they pull out the needle, making him a great counter to shields.

ela badge  Ela

With her concussive mines, Ela is more aggressive and needs to be close to her traps to make a difference. Better played on the move and always ready to fight, her mine will make it harder for the Attackers to see and move for a few seconds giving Ela a few seconds to punsh their inattention.
