Another Mindset

Two and a half years after its release, Rainbow Six Siege is 35 million players strong. Content creation is at an all-time high and the esports scene is now entering a state of maturity. As the game and the community keep growing together, we took some time to reflect upon some of its famous members.


During 9 months, we followed 8 community members in their daily lives and at Rainbow Six events, from the Pro League finals at GamesCom 2017, to the finals in Sao Paulo, and finally to the Six Invitational 2018. They are professional players, coaches, managers, commentators, analysts or Twitch streamers. To their families, they are Alexis, Nicolle, Niklas, Thomas, Alex, Niclas, Andre and Maciej; but to millions of Rainbow Six fans, they are Lil_Lexi, CherryGumms, Willkey, Shas, Z1ronic, Pengu, Meligeni and Macie_Jay. How did gaming become more than an entertainment for them? These are the stories of those with another mindset.

Macie_Jay

Influencer / Twitch streamer / Youtuber

Macie_Jay, or Maciej, has been involved with Rainbow Six Siege since the beginning. While he started off creating YouTube vidoes about a different obscure tactics he came across, he has since expanded to livestreaming on Twitch as well. One of the exciting things that we have found really engaging about Maciej's content is the unique, creative approach that he brings to every situation. Through this creativity, he is able to act on some really outside of the box plays!

Meligeni

Commentator

André “Meligeni” Santos is a Brazilian esports shoutcaster. He started his career casting Battlefield for ESL in 2014 and switched to Rainbow Six Siege shortly after the game's release. Today, together with Otavio "Retalha" Rodrigues, Meligeni is the voice of professional Rainbow Six Siege in Brazil and one of the most famous commentators for the game around the world. He loves beer, Star Wars and barbecue.

Willkey

ENCE esports

Niklas "Willkey" Ojalainen is a Finnish professional player for team ENCE esports. He's been involved in esports on a pro level since 2014 when he used to compete and be an analyst for World of Tanks. He started playing Rainbow Six Siege since the early days of the beta, and entered Pro League on its first season in January 2016, with the all Finnish squad: Team GIFU, which later became ENCE esports. Experienced leader and oldest player of the team at 31, Willkey naturally became the captain and in-game leader of the squad. His teammates and him made it to every Pro League LAN finals up to season 6 in Sao Paulo where they finally claimed 1st place.

Shas

Penta Sports

Thomas "Shas" Lee is a British Rainbow Six Siege player and the head coach for team Penta Sports which he joined at the end of 2017. He is the very first full-time coach of the Rainbow Six Siege scene and is widely recognized as one of the key components to the team's success. To this day, with him as a coach, the team attended every Pro League finals, won 2 and claimed a title of world champion at the Six Invitational 2018.

In Rainbow Six Siege, Seasons are major game updates that are focused on improving the experience. Every Season we release new free content including maps, features or game modes as well as new unlockable content including operators, weapons or character skins.

Black Dragons

Nicolle “Cherrygumms” Merhy is a Brazilian former professional player of Rainbow Six Siege for team Black Dragons. She is now Black Dragons' CEO and manager of the Rainbow Six Siege team.

Pengu

Penta Sports

Niclas "Pengu" Mouritzen is a Danish professional player for team Penta Sports, and to this day, the most successful player of the Rainbow Six Siege professional scene. He is often cited as a very talented player who shines in clutch situations. His track record includes three Pro League champion titles and one World Champion title with team Penta Sports.

Z1ronic

Analyst

Alex "Z1ronic" Dalgaard-Hansen is a Danish player and analyst. Quickly after the launch of the game, he signed up to compete in the first Season of Pro League. His professional career was sprinkled with satisfying results which culminated in a very close second place against Continuum at the Season 3 finals. After that, z1ronic shifted his attention to the analyst desk, where he breaks down plays and complex strategies for audience of competitive Rainbow Six Siege.

Lil_Lexi

Influencer / Twitch streamer

Lil_Lexi has been a part of the Rainbow Six Siege community since launch. As an Ash main, her tag line is "Confidence is key", and this is showcased through her game play. Whether it is entry fragging for her team, or playing as an aggressive roamer, she is a crucial member of her team regardless of the situation.

RAINBOW SIX SIEGE PRO LEAGUE

The Pro League is a professional esports league for Rainbow Six Siege, managed by ESL in association with Ubisoft. Across Europe, North America, Latin America and the Asia Pacific region, the best teams in the world compete for more than $250,000 in prize money during 6 month long seasons. Each season culminates in a lan final where a champion is crowned. With its eighth season now on the way, more than ever, the Pro League is the place to enjoy competitive Rainbow Six at its finest.

SIX MAJOR PARIS

Rainbow Six fans! Mark your calendar, the Six Major Paris begins on August 13th!

Known for its heated and passionate crowds, France will host the first edition of the Six Major, which will take place in different locations across the globe every year. The first edition of the Six Major will be located in the Paris Expo – Porte de Versailles from August 13th to 19th.

Sixteen of the best teams across four different regions (Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific) will meet to compete in the biggest Rainbow Six competition held in Europe to date, complete with a total prize pool of $350,000! In addition to high-level competition, the Six Major will be an immersive experience in the Rainbow Six universe with a venue full of activities.
